Shirt "Silent Hymn" by Bojan Stojčić

A negative of Stojčić’s handprint is impressed upon ceremonial white dress shirts, signaling the gesture used during national anthem intonation. They, too, stand in somewhat of a negative, where the absence of the body is absolute. The gesture, also often used to signal honesty, evokes the imagery of the earliest illustration known to humankind, the one that still eludes our full understanding - the caveman’s painted handprint. The dualities of his shirts are thus many: playing with absence, they communicate exactly what is not there. ⁠

Oblik ruke u ovoj instalaciji oslikan je u negativu na svečanim bijelim košuljama. One su također u svojevrsnom negativu, u kojem je evidentno odsustvo tijela. Oslikana ruka signalizira gestu stavljanja ruke na srce, radi intoniranja himne ili izražavanja iskrenosti. Ona također zaziva oslikanu ruku pećinskog čovjeka kao prve znane ilustracije te izvornog fakta historije. Dualiteti u ovoj košulji su stoga mnogobrojni: u igri sa odsustvom, ona komunicira upravo ono što nije. ⁠
